The spareness of Scandinavian design is a school of thought—and a way of life—that’s responsible for the popularity of several household names, Ikea and Bang & Olufsen among them. For four-year-old Copenhagen textile studio Tekla, the aesthetic approach means creating everyday pieces for the bed and bath that are high-quality and low-fuss, informed by references from architecture and the natural world.

Tekla’s pared-down offerings include plush bathrobes, cozy wool throws, and linen bedding woven from French flax—classic pieces that provide a design language with which to approach other projects. The brand joined forces with British architectural designer John Pawson on a series of jacquard blankets in 2019, recently debuted a line of kidswear and canvas tote bags, and has a kitchen set in the works. This week, Tekla released a summertime capsule collection with Stüssy, an American clothing brand that rose to prominence by outfitting Southern California surfers in the late ’80s and early ’90s, and is now widely beloved in skateboard and hip-hop circles. Together, they devised a bevy of classic items fit for the beach, such as a Baja-striped cover-up, oversized hooded bathrobes, and a terry cotton towel embroidered with Stüssy’s signature swirls. Curl up in the collection’s unisex poplin sleepwear, accented with contrasting double stitching, rendered in cactus green or in free-spirited, hand-drawn stripes.
